From the point of view of tourism and pilgrimage, air travel to the plains of Devbhoomi is now becoming easy and accessible. With the aim of attracting tourists, the government is continuously expanding the heli services. In this sequence, new helipads are also being built in the state.
The very important role of the central government’s Udan scheme:
The central government’s UDAN scheme has a very important role in expanding heli services. Under this scheme, heli services are currently being operated from Dehradun to Chinyalisaur, Dehradun to Gauchar, Dehradun to Tehri, Dehradun to Srinagar, Dehradun to Almora and Haldwani to Pithoragarh in the state.
Heli services are being operated for pilgrims from Dehradun to Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib from various places in Chamoli district.
Dehradun to Nainital and Dehradun to Joshimath heli service also included:
Now preparations are on to add three more heli services to these heli services. Out of this, two heli services will operate from Dehradun. This includes Dehradun to Nainital and Dehradun to Joshimath heli service. Along with this, finding Haldwani to Munsiyari suitable for heli service, preparations are on to start heli service here too.
Preparations are on to expand heli services in the state. In this episode, the department has sent the proposal of new heli services to the Center under the UDAN scheme. The Center is expected to approve these services.
