Raj Bhavan refused to return the Women’s Reservation Bill, said – ‘still under consideration’

The Raj Bhavan has refused to return the 30 percent reservation bill for important women passed by the Pushkar Singh Dhami government in the winter session of the Vidhansabha. This bill is currently under consideration in the Raj Bhavan.

In the two-day winter session of the Vidhan Sabha, on November 30, the Pushkar Singh Dhami government had passed a bill regarding giving 30 percent reservation in government services to the women of the state. The arrangement of giving 30 percent reservation to women in the state was made through a mandate, which was canceled by the High Court.
After this, the Uttarakhand Public Service (Horizontal Reservation for Women) Bill was presented in the House by the government. The bill also got the support of the opposition and was passed unanimously.
It was sent to the Raj Bhavan for approval along with 14 bills passed in the session. The Raj Bhavan has approved the Uttarakhand Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Bill brought to crack down on religious conversions in the state. Now it has taken the form of law in the form of an Act.
On the other hand, after the High Court repealed the mandate to give 30 percent reservation to the women of the state, the approval of the Raj Bhavan is awaited on this bill. When contacted, it was told by the Raj Bhavan that the bill has not been returned to the government. It is under consideration in the Raj Bhavan itself.
