Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Uttarakhand will be made drug free in the year 2025 itself. Rapid steps are being taken towards fulfilling this resolution. For this, work is being done at all three levels of institutional, enforcement and awareness in the state. Continuous action is being taken against criminals engaged in drug trafficking and their illegal trade. Enforcement action is being taken through Anti Narcotics Task Force. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday participated virtually in the regional conference organized on the subject of drug trafficking and national security organized under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The Chief Minister gave information about the enforcement action, special campaign and goals taken in relation to the prevention of drugs in Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister said that efforts are being made at many levels in the state to cooperate in making a developed India and a drug-free India by the year 2047. He said that both the subjects of drug trafficking and national security are interconnected. Youth turning to drugs can not only be a threat to national security but also a cause of social disintegration. Keeping this in mind, a campaign is being run against drugs in the state. Legal action is being taken against criminals involved in drug trafficking under the NDPS Act. Rehabilitation centers have been set up in districts to bring people addicted to drugs into the mainstream. Under the public awareness campaign against drugs, special campaigns are being run by taking along Mahila Mangal Dals and Yuva Mangal Dals. Awareness camps are being organized in remote areas. Counselors have been appointed in prisons and schools. A toll-free helpline number has been issued. Last year, 2183 awareness rallies, 1050 seminars, 75 street plays and 10 marathons were organized. Through this, more than three lakh students and the general public were directly made aware. The government is also running a campaign for de-addiction in departments and various institutions.
