Rishikesh Municipal Corporation’s Mayor Anita Mamgain met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and welcomed him by presenting him with clothes and mementos.
During this, Union Minister Gadkari said that he has come from Delhi to Rishikesh by road, that is why he wants to see the condition of the highway on the ground. He said that other problems including flyover at Shyampur gate would be resolved quickly.
The Mayor informed Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who was staying at Hotel Anand Kashi on the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway, that thousands of tourists and devotees coming to Devbhoomi have to face daily traffic jam at Shyampur railway gate. Citizens of 15 Gram Panchayats and Municipal Corporation areas are the most affected by this problem, especially during weekends, Char Dham Yatra and Kavad Yatra.
For its permanent solution, it is very important to make a flyover here. Union Minister Gadkari assured them that soon this action plan would be implemented on the ground. Giving information, the Mayor said that the Union Minister told that he has come here by road only to take a proper stock of the condition of the roads from Delhi to Rishikesh.
As soon as the year 2024 starts, the journey from Dehradun to Delhi will be completed in two hours. People will forget to travel by air. According to the fame of Rishikesh, a network of roads will be laid here too. On this occasion, the Mayor also thanked the Union Road and Transport Minister. Former BJP state president Madan Kaushik also met him.
