Police has arrested Muslim youth Saddam, accused of urinating and pelting stones at the gate of Kali temple located in Harrawala, Dehradun. When information was collected about the accused, it was found that he was mentally ill. He is undergoing treatment at Selaqui Mental Hospital. The relatives of the accused also keep him locked in the house. On Monday, taking the opportunity, he left his house in Mehunwala and reached Harrawala. The accused reached in front of the temple late at night and defiled it.
This incident was captured in CCTV. Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh said that public representative Vinod Kumar filed a complaint at Doiwala police station on Wednesday. The police registered a case and started searching for the accused. During this time, the video of the incident being circulated on the internet media also posed a challenge to the police. Police identified the accused and arrested Saddam from his house in Mehunwala on Wednesday afternoon.
