Repair and renovation work of dilapidated school buildings identified by the education department in the state will be done under disaster head. Block Education Officers will provide the proposal of such buildings in their development blocks to the Directorate of Education within two weeks. The Directorate will send this proposal to the Disaster Management Department.
School Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat on Tuesday held a meeting with the higher officials of Education, Finance and Disaster Management Department regarding repair and construction of damaged school buildings at his official residence. It was decided that the repair work of damaged schools would be done under disaster management head. It was decided to get new buildings of fully damaged schools constructed from state sector funds.
Estimated cost from one lakh to five lakh rupees
Dr. Rawat told that there are hundreds of schools in the state, whose repairs have been estimated from one lakh to five lakh rupees. The Education Department has divided the damaged schools into four categories after conducting a survey a few months ago. Completely damaged schools have been kept in D-category. New buildings of these schools are to be constructed, while damaged schools in other categories will be repaired.
He directed the departmental officers to provide proposals for repair of schools through executive agencies. Block Education Officers will send proposals from development blocks to Chief Education Officers in the districts. The Chief Education Officer will make these proposals available to the directorate.
