Earlier, on June 4, 1902, the temperature of Doon was 43.9 degree Celsius, which is an all-time record. In the year 2022, on June 5, the mercury had reached 41.6 degree Celsius, but this time the heat is wreaking havoc in Uttarakhand. Especially in the plains, the heat waves have made life difficult. For the last five days, the mercury of Doon has remained above 41 degree Celsius. The sun has been spewing fire since morning. On Thursday, the minimum temperature of Doon was also three above normal at 26.0 degree Celsius. Apart from this, the maximum temperature of Pantnagar was five above normal at 41.0 and the minimum at 26.0 degree Celsius. Mukteshwar’s maximum temperature was recorded seven degrees above normal at 31.2 and minimum at 26.0 degrees Celsius. Tehri’s maximum temperature was three degrees above normal at 31.6 and minimum at 26.0 degrees Celsius.
On the other hand, Director of Meteorological Center Bikram Singh said that the weather in Uttarakhand is expected to remain dry for the time being. There is no possibility of decrease in temperature in Doon and other plain areas for the next three days. The maximum temperature in Dehradun is likely to remain above 42 degrees and heat wave is likely to blow during the afternoon. Light rain with thunder may occur at high altitudes in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh. An orange alert has been issued regarding heat wave in the remaining plain areas.
