The government has entrusted the responsibility of the post of chairman of the State Public Service Commission to Dr. JMS Rana, a member of the commission. The post of the chairman of the commission fell vacant on June 7 due to the resignation of Dr. Rakesh Kumar. Personnel Secretary Shailesh Bagoli issued the notification for the appointment of Dr. Rana to the post of President. Dr. Rana will assume the duties of the post in the absence of the President.
Retired IAS Dr. Rakesh Kumar had sent his resignation to the Chief Secretary on June 5, citing personal reasons. The Governor had accepted his resignation on June 7 last afternoon. Since then this post was vacant. The appointment of a new chairman is bound to take time.
The commission has to conduct a number of recruitment examinations as per the current annual calendar. There is a possibility of disruption in this work due to the absence of the chairman. Along with this, the government is preparing to make new recruitments. In view of these challenges, the governor has approved the appointment of commission member Dr. JMS Rana as its chairman.
