With the aim of improving the picture of farming, four agricultural policies have been implemented in the state. In the light of the cabinet’s decision, the government has issued orders regarding millet, kiwi and dragon fruit policy and post-harvest management plan. With the aim of promoting millets, i.e. coarse grains in the state, the cabinet had recently approved the millet policy. Under this, a target has been set to cover 70 thousand hectares of area with coarse grain crops like Mandua, Jhangora, Kauni, Sanwa, Ramdana by the year 2030-31. For this, provision of subsidy has been made for sowing of crops to purchase as well as equipment. An amount of Rs 134 crore will be spent on all these works. Kiwi policy has been implemented to promote kiwi fruit production. For the next six years, Rs 894 crore will be spent for kiwi cultivation in 3500 hectares of area. A target of 14 thousand metric tonnes of kiwi production has been set in the state through this campaign. Nine thousand farmers will benefit from this. Under the Dragon Fruit (Kamalam) policy, a target of 350 metric tonnes of production has been set by cultivating dragon fruit in 228 acres of land. The government will spend Rs 15 crore on the works to be done under this policy. Apart from this, a post-harvest management plan has been brought for the year 2030-31 to promote apple production. Under this scheme of Rs 144.55 crore, the target is to do very intensive apple horticulture in five thousand hectares. CA stores and sorting-grading units will be established for apple storage and grading. A provision of subsidy of 50 to 70 percent has been made in these.
