The car was challaned online
ARTO (Enforcement) Rajendra Viratia said that the Land Cruiser car is registered in the name of MF Perfect Construction of Barog in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. The car is being challaned online and sent to the owner’s address. Also, it has been recommended to suspend the driver’s driving license for three months. ARTO said that stopping or chasing a vehicle running at high speed poses a risk of accident. For this reason, now such vehicles are being challaned with interceptor and speed radar-gun. This challan is sent to home, but the SMS of challan reaches the registered mobile number of the vehicle owner immediately. ARTO said that this car was going from Doon to Haridwar. The car number was told to be (HP-14C-6786). ARTO said that the enforcement teams of the Transport Department took action against those driving vehicles at reckless speed in Dehradun on Thursday by conducting a checking campaign. During this, 113 vehicles were challaned. Transport tax officers Anuradha Pant, Shweta Rauthan and MD Papnoi conducted a campaign on Haridwar bypass including Harrawala, Kuanwala, Saharanpur road and issued online challans.
Action with radar gun and interceptor
The RTO office has four interceptors and speed radar-guns to measure speed in Dehradun. The ARTO said that the maximum speed limit is recorded at the checking point in the speed radar-gun of the interceptor and the camera focuses on the vehicle. When a vehicle comes from the front, its speed is recorded in the camera. If the speed is more than the prescribed limit, the speed radar-gun records its photo along with the number plate and speed in the computer. Then the challan is issued after recording it in the e-challan software.
Fine of two thousand rupees and DL suspension
The ARTO said that there is a provision of a fine of two thousand rupees under the MV Act for driving a vehicle at an unbridled speed. Apart from this, the driving license of the driver is also suspended for three months. In the last one month, the transport department has challaned more than one thousand vehicles for unbridled speed and the driving license of the same number of drivers has also been suspended.
