The concept of tourism police will soon be seen coming to fruition in the state. Preparations are underway to create a separate cadre in the state. In this regard, the government has instructed the police headquarters to provide the proposal. As soon as the government receives the proposal related to this, it will be brought before the Cabinet for approval. Every year a large number of devotees and tourists from India and abroad visit the religious and scenic tourist places of Uttarakhand. Their figure is increasing every year. Last year, more than 50 lakh devotees had come to the state on Char Dham Yatra alone. Apart from this, a large number of tourists also reached Mussoorie, Nainital, New Tehri and Ranikhet.
This is how it is arranged now
Many times during the tourist season, there have been many types of complaints like overcharging, lack of facilities and misbehavior from tourists in tourist places. In view of this, the matter of establishment of tourism police in the state was raised. Actually, during the tourist season, the police department deploys policemen in the name of tourism police at all the major tourist places. These policemen are given short-term training on how to interact with tourists and solve their problems. After the season, these policemen go back to their original place of deployment.
Home Minister Amit Shah had emphasized
Now steps are being taken towards creating a new cadre of tourism police. In fact, when Union Home Minister Amit Shah came to Uttarakhand in October last year, he had stressed on the formation of Tourism Police. After this, the Home Department sent a letter to the Police Headquarters asking them to make a clear proposal regarding the Tourism Police.
Tourism police will be deployed
Now a separate cadre of tourism police will be created regarding tourism. Initially, about 100 personnel will be deployed, who will be deployed in the main tourist areas during the season.
