The Chief Minister said the honour places the Uttarakhand Police in the league of select police forces of the country that have received this recognition
The Uttarakhand Police has been honoured with the President’s Police Colours, the highest national award bestowed on a State police force. Director General of Police (DGP) Deepam Seth met Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to convey the information.
Mr. Dhami described it as a “golden and glorious chapter” in the State’s history, and a living testament to pride, tradition, and an indomitable spirit of service. The Chief Minister said the honour places the Uttarakhand Police in the league of select police forces of the country that have received this recognition.
The gesture coming in the Silver Jubilee Year of the State makes the achievement even more special, he said. Mr. Dhami said the award is conferred following a rigorous evaluation process, with every dimension of the police force undergoing a thorough scrutiny.
He said the State police’s efficiency is manifest in its pivotal role in disaster management, particularly during the 2013 Kedarnath tragedy, and its exemplary management of security, traffic, and crowd control during such massive events as the Maha Kumbh, Char Dham Yatra, and Kanwar Yatra.
