On Monday, a program was organized by the Bureau of Indian Standards on World Standards Day in the Himalayan Culture Auditorium. Chief Guest Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Food Minister Rekha Arya started the program by lighting a lamp.
‘The Prime Minister got the products of Uttarakhand recognized at the world level’
Dhami said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi worked to get the products of Uttarakhand recognized at the world level. He said that the Bureau of Indian Standards has organized programs on standards in 10 thousand schools across the country. Which is commendable in itself. During this, he observed the exhibition on World Standards. Apart from this, Rajesh Agarwal, Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment inaugurated the Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendra (PMDK) at the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (NIEPVD) in Dehradun to provide free assistive devices to Divyangjan and senior citizens. During this, he distributed 14 electric wheelchairs to Divyangjan.
Camps will be organized in schools to make children aware
In the institute located on Rajpur Road, he inaugurated the Prosthetic and Orthotic Center, Hearing Aid Fitting Lab, Storage Room, Casting and Measurement Room. During this, he said that the first Divyasha Center has been opened in Uttarakhand. With the opening of this center, Divyangjan will not have to worry about artificial devices. Wheelchairs and equipment will start being made here. Camps will also be organized in schools to make children aware.
So far, there are 65 Divyansh centers across the country and a target has been set to make 300 centers in the next three years. After this, the Union Secretary is inspecting the institute.
Transport Corporation employees will be on strike for two days from 22nd October. Meanwhile, employees of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation have announced to go on strike in protest against the demand for regularization of special category and contract employees in the city and granting permits to new buses on 14 nationalized routes. In the first phase, Uttarakhand Transport Corporation Employees United Front has warned of a 48-hour strike from 12 midnight of 22nd October to 12 midnight of 24th October. After this, if the demand is not met, a state-wide indefinite strike has been announced from 12 midnight of 5th November. On Monday, the officials of the United Front gave this information in a press conference at Uttaranchal Press Club. Front convener Ashok Chaudhary, Ravinandan Kumar and Ramkishun Ram etc. were present in the conference.
