Due to increasing vehicle pressure on the roads of the capital Doon, parking of vehicles has become a big challenge. Due to lack of parking, people are forced to park their vehicles on the road. In such a situation, there is not only the problem of traffic jam, sometimes people’s vehicles have to be pulled by the police with a crane. To overcome the parking problem to some extent, Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has approved a big parking project. Under which a 10-storey parking will be constructed on the old tehsil land on Gandhi Road. In which there will be parking arrangement for 1600 vehicles. This decision was taken in the 108th board meeting of MDDA.
MDDA’s board meeting was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey. The MDDA board has passed a proposal of Rs 100 crore for the parking project. Under which Rs 50 crore will be spent in the construction of the proposed parking on the old tehsil land. The same budget will be spent in the proposed 10-storey parking on the land of Rishikesh Municipal Corporation complex. Parking with a capacity of about 1200 vehicles will be constructed here. Apart from this, 60 issues related to maps were discussed in the MDDA Board meeting. In which the cases of resorts, hotels, farm houses and commercial buildings were decided on the basis of merits. Last year, the budget size of MDDA was around Rs 600 crore. Seen from this perspective, the size of MDDA has almost doubled in terms of budget.
