Border Roads Organization (BRO) Director General Lieutenant General Raghu Srinivasan met Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Reni) and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami separately on Tuesday. The Director General said that there is a plan to develop five airfields in the state at Gunji, Kalsi, Tanakpur, Ghansali and Navidhang. The Governor discussed in detail the road connectivity in the border areas of Uttarakhand with BRO Director General Lieutenant General Raghu Srinivasan at Raj Bhavan. He appreciated the efforts of BRO for developing infrastructure in border areas despite adverse conditions. ADGBR (NW) Harendra Kumar and other officers of BRO were present on this occasion.
On the other hand, during the meeting with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the Secretariat, BRO Director General Raghu Srinivasan gave information about the road being built from Baluakot to Tawaghat and from Lipulekh to Jolingkong in Pithoragarh. The Chief Minister said that in the coming times, the number of devotees visiting Adi Kailash and Parvatikund will increase rapidly. Keeping in view the possibilities of rapid increase in the number of devotees and tourists in the state, the state government is working keeping in mind the arrangements for the next 50 years.
He said that the state government will extend full cooperation to BRO to accelerate the work being done in the state. Director General Raghu Srinivasan said that the Army is maintaining 2.25 km of the 13.50 km road from Joshimath to Auli.
He requested to transfer the work of widening and strengthening of the remaining part of this road of strategic importance to BRO instead of Public Works. Similarly, emphasis was laid on handing over the construction of 15 km alternative route from Hanuman Shila in Badgaon of Joshimath to Auli to BRO.
On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Chief Engineer of Public Works Department Deepak Kumar Yadav and BRO officials were present.
