In Uttarakhand, from March 1 to March 16, the enforcement team formed by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer has seized cash, illegal liquor and drugs worth more than Rs 7 crore. Chief Electoral Officer Dr. BVRC Purushottam said that effective monitoring should be done at the check posts of the districts which are adjacent to the international and national borders. The Chief Electoral Officer held a meeting with all the District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police at the Secretariat on Sunday through video conferencing. He said that voting is to be held in the first phase in the state, hence awareness programs including sweep activities should be run on a wider scale up to the booth level.
The Chief Electoral Officer said that all the agencies should fill the seizure report and other reports responsibly in the Election Seizure Management System. He said that the static surveillance teams in the districts should take the information received through various mediums seriously and take immediate action on them.
Director General of Police AP Ashuman said that a plan has been prepared to deploy security forces in all the districts of the state. SSP and SP have been directed to ensure smooth communication facilities in the shadow areas of the state. He said that surveillance is being done through drone cameras in inaccessible areas. Political parties should follow the guidelines of the Commission
Chief Electoral Officer Dr. BVRC Purushottam held a meeting with representatives of all recognized political parties of the state at the Secretariat. He appealed to all parties for safe voting in the state. He said that the Model Code of Conduct has become effective, in view of this, monitoring of expenditure of all political parties has also been started. All parties should conduct the nomination process, election rallies and other activities as per the guidelines of the Election Commission.
