Uttarakhand’s first millet policy passed, powers of commissioner and DM increased

admin April 17, 2025

In Uttarakhand, which is very sensitive from the disaster point of view, the reconstruction of the schemes damaged by the disaster will now be expedited. For this, the financial powers of the commissioner and DM have been increased. This proposal was given the green signal in the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday night under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

The commissioner will now be able to give financial approval to proposals ranging from one to five crore rupees for disaster reconstruction works. Earlier he had the right to approve proposals ranging from 20 to 50 lakh rupees. Apart from this, the DM will also be able to approve works up to one crore. Earlier he had the right to approve works up to 20 lakhs.

Relief from the hassle of running around the government

This initiative of the government will get rid of the hassle of running around the government for reconstruction works in view of the damage caused by the disaster in the districts. Apart from the first millet policy, the cabinet has approved many other proposals including Kiwi policy, Dragonfruit scheme to encourage farmers for coarse grains. 25 subjects were kept in the cabinet meeting. Giving information about the decisions of the cabinet late night, Secretary to the Chief Minister Shailesh Bagoli said that the cabinet approved the proposal to increase financial and administrative powers in view of disaster reconstruction works.

He said that due to the low limit of financial powers of the Commissioner and DM for the reconstruction of public assets damaged by the disaster, it is likely to take time to get its approval. Now this problem has been overcome. Also, the work will be done at a fast pace.

These decisions were also taken

Students from class one to 12 will now get copies along with textbooks.

The sub-registrar appointed for will in UCC will now also be the registrar for marriage and divorce.

Parks and roads will be transferred to welfare societies in residential colonies at a fast pace.
