The public representatives of the municipal bodies should not see their role as just a post, but adopt it as a mission of public service. Everyone has to ensure that the benefits of the schemes and works of the triple engine government reach the person standing at the last end of the society. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami gave this advice to the mayors of municipal corporations and presidents of municipal councils in the city se dialogue program at the Chief Servant House on Tuesday evening. He emphasized that the body office should not only be an administrative unit, but it should be developed as a service center, so that every citizen comes there with full confidence without hesitation. Also told the body heads to make transparency, accountability and honesty the key to their working style.
In this program organized by the Urban Development Department, Chief Minister Dhami expected the body heads to monitor those works themselves, in which there is a high possibility of corruption. Vigilance at the administrative level can become the biggest guarantee of good governance. The civic chiefs should adopt a zero tolerance policy towards corruption and send a clear message to the officers and employees that corrupt practices will not be tolerated at any level. He said that our responsibility is not only to remain in power, but the real responsibility is to serve the public.
