In Uttarakhand, the deceased dependent will get financial assistance within 72 hours, CM Dhami gave instructions

admin August 22, 2025

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed the districts that the ex-gratia amount should be distributed to the dependents of the deceased within 72 hours after death during the disaster. Any kind of delay will not be acceptable. If there is a delay due to identification or other reasons, then it should be ensured that the ex-gratia amount is made available within a maximum of one week. In this context, on Thursday, Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Vinod Kumar Suman held a virtual meeting with all the District Magistrates and apprised them of the instructions of the Chief Minister. Suman said that in view of the Orange Alert issued by the Meteorological Department in the coming days, the District Magistrates should be vigilant, regularly monitor the water level of rivers and drains. He took information about loss of life, animal loss and building damage through the DM. Said that any kind of delay in the distribution of ex-gratia assistance will not be tolerated. The District Magistrates were asked to assess the departmental damage so far and send a detailed report to the government soon, so that a proposal can be sent to obtain additional funds from the Central Government from the SDRF and SDMF head.

Weather warning will be given in the village through WhatsApp group

Secretary Vinay Kumar Suman also inquired about the expenditure status of SDRF and non-SDRF funds from the districts. He said that Chief Minister Dhami is constantly monitoring the situation arising due to heavy rains across the state and providing timely relief to the affected is the top priority. He directed to send alerts and warnings broadcast from the State Emergency Operations Center to every village through WhatsApp group. At least 20 people including Pradhan, Sarpanch of each village should be connected in these groups so that disaster related information can be immediately conveyed to every person. The Secretary said that as per the instructions of the Chief Minister, Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority is committed to deliver disaster alerts and information to every citizen of the state.
