After taking a tough stand on illegal madrasas operating in Uttarakhand, the government is now going to change the system of giving recognition to madrasas. Permission of the District Magistrate will be necessary for recognition. Along with this, some new provisions will also be made. The government is busy deliberating on the proposal sent by the Uttarakhand Madrasa Education Council in this regard. It has been sent to the Finance, Justice and Personnel Department.
About 450 madrasas registered in the state
About 450 madrasas are registered in the state under the Madrasa Education Council, which give the details of income and expenditure along with all their documents to the government. Not only this, more than 500 madrasas are running in the state without any recognition. Action is going on against these illegal madrasas for the last one month and so far 159 madrasas have been sealed. Not only this, the government has also ordered an investigation into the funding received by illegal madrasas. In this sequence, now the system of giving recognition to madrasas is being tightened. For this, the rules will be changed. A proposal for this has also been sent to the government by the Madrasa Education Council. In this, emphasis has been laid on deciding the role of the district administration for the recognition of madrasas.
Emphasis on deciding the role of the district administration
It has been proposed that a committee constituted under the chairmanship of the DM will investigate every application related to recognition from all aspects. Then after the recommendation of the DM, the application will be sent to the Madrasa Education Council. Till now, there is a system of sending the applications received through the District Minority Welfare Officer to the Madrasa Education Council. Apart from this, emphasis has also been laid on deciding the role of the district administration in the renewal of recognition of madrasas.
