LIC officials are creating obstacles in the ongoing work under Smart City on Chakrata Road. LIC officials also arrived on Thursday to stop the work of undergrounding the power line. On which Rajpur Road MLA Khajan Das has warned of filing a case if the work is stopped. Also, Energy Corporation personnel have been asked to continue their work. The traders of Chakrata Road are extending full cooperation to the Energy Corporation.
Why are LIC officials protesting?
LIC officials are opposing giving connections to the people and businessmen living in the LIC building located on Chakrata Road. In such a situation, the work on the underground line is being stopped on their behalf. Even on Thursday, LIC officials came to protest. The management argues that the LIC building is dilapidated and has to be vacated. In such a situation, these people should not be given electricity connection.
Local shopkeepers protested
During this time, local shopkeepers protested against LIC officials creating hindrance in their work. Traders said that the power lines are being laid underground under the Smart City. No one can be stopped from providing electricity connection. Energy Corporation’s Executive Engineer Gaurav Saklani said that no one can be deprived of providing electricity connection. On the other hand, MLA Khajandas also talked about completing the smart city work on time. The MLA talked to LIC officials and explained. He clarified that a case will be registered for obstructing government work.
