In the Chamoli accident, the engineers concerned have been suspended on the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Jal Sansthan has suspended Additional Assistant Engineer Hardev Lal and Regional Junior Engineer of Energy Corporation Kundan Singh Rawat, who are monitoring the works of Sewage Treatment Plant, with immediate effect. Action has been taken to suspend both the above engineers after they were found guilty of negligence in the prima facie investigation.
The Chief Minister has directed the officers of the concerned departments to take action regarding the investigation of the accident due to electrocution in Chamoli. Along with finding out the reasons for the accident, strict action has been taken against the culprits. In this sequence, two engineers were attacked on Thursday.
Additional Assistant Engineer Hardev Lal suspended:
Neelima Garg, Chief General Manager of Jal Sansthan said that operation and maintenance work of Chamoli Sewage Treatment Plant is being done through outsourced medium. Done by Jaibhushan Malik Contractors Patiala. Whose monitoring was the responsibility of Additional Assistant Engineer Hardev Lal of Jal Sansthan. Additional Assistant Engineer Hardev Lal has been suspended for negligence in discharge of departmental tasks and responsibilities.
During the period of suspension, the said engineer has been attached to the Rudraprayag branch office. Here, Energy Corporation has also suspended Junior Engineer Kundan Singh Rawat after being found guilty of prima facie negligence and attached him to the office of Executive Engineer Electricity Distribution Division Gopeshwar. The Junior Engineer was responsible for keeping the power supply smooth in the area and following the safety standards in case of faults etc.
The investigation is still going on, the conclusion may come out today:
Secretary Drinking Water Arvind Singh Hyanki, who reached Chamoli to investigate the accident, said that prima facie two engineers have been suspended for being found guilty of negligence. A team of experts is probing the incident. Right now the investigation is going on and on Friday also investigation will be done on various aspects. Only after this the cause of the accident will be known.
