Chamoli Avalanche: Center’s eye on avalanche near Mana, sought help from Air Force

After the avalanche incident near Mana in Chamoli district, the central government is keeping a close watch on the ongoing relief and rescue work there. Home Minister Amit Shah is constantly taking updates in this regard. Here, as soon as the information about the incident was received, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took charge. He reached the State Emergency Operations Center in the afternoon and directed to expedite the relief and rescue operations.

Home Minister Shah and Defense Minister assured all possible help
On this occasion, while talking to journalists, he shared the information that Union Home Minister Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh have assured all possible help. The Prime Minister’s Office is also in constant touch. In view of speeding up the relief and rescue work, a letter has been sent to the Air Force for the help of MI-17 helicopter. The Chief Minister also reached the Disaster Operations Center at eight o’clock in the night and inquired about the situation. Chief Minister Dhami took detailed information about the avalanche incident at the State Emergency Operations Center. He instructed the officials to open the nearest helipad to reach the spot quickly, so that relief and rescue work can be expedited.

It is not possible for the helicopter to reach the spot
He also instructed to keep an eye on the spot through drones, and if needed, bring the injured to AIIMS Rishikesh by air ambulance. Talking to journalists, the Chief Minister said that relief and rescue operations are continuing after the avalanche. People from ITBP, Army, District Administration, Air Force, NDRF, SDRF, BRO are engaged in rescue work. Due to lack of visibility, it is not possible for the helicopter to reach the spot. Services of snow experts are being taken.

Safe evacuation of workers is the first priority
The first priority of the government is to safely evacuate the workers. All rescue teams are working in mutual coordination. Mana helipad is being activated. Also, AIIMS Rishikesh, Srinagar Medical College, District Hospital Gopeshwar have been put on alert mode. He said that rescue and relief work is going on on a war footing.
