It is clear from the crowd of devotees gathering in the Chardham Yatra that this time the Yatra is moving towards a new record. In such a situation, the government is facing the challenge of making the journey successful and safe. In view of this, the government has appealed to the travelers to follow the SOP issued from time to time regarding the journey, so that everyone can easily visit the Dhams and the journey is smooth and safe. Along with this, the government is trying to make the pilgrims aware about other religious places lying on the pilgrimage routes, so that the traffic of pilgrims on other routes also increases.
Chardham, the backbone of the state’s economy
The pilgrimage to Chardham i.e. Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath is considered to be the backbone of the state’s economy. The economy of countless people of Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi districts depends on travel. Keeping in view the importance of Chardham Yatra, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government is busy in beautifying the four Dhams. The reconstruction work of Kedarnath Dham is in the final stages, while Badrinath is being developed as a Spiritual Hill Town. Work worth crores is also going on in Gangotri and Yamunotri. The journey has become easier with the construction of 825 km long all-weather road. Due to all this the attraction of Chardham Yatra has increased more. Also the number of pilgrims is continuously increasing. If we look at the figures, more than 46 lakh devotees came on Chardham Yatra in the year 2022, whereas in the year 2023 this figure was more than 56 lakh. This time, since the beginning of the Yatra on May 10, about nine lakh devotees have visited the Dhams. Along with this, horse and mule, dandi kandi, women support groups, heli services, hotel restaurants, local businessmen and other sections are getting good income.
Chief Minister is continuously reviewing the travel arrangements
At the same time, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is continuously reviewing the Chardham Yatra arrangements. He says that better travel arrangements and safety of passengers is the first priority of the government. He has appealed to the passengers to undertake the journey only after registering. Once the registration is done, the government can easily make proper arrangements for all the passengers. Travel can be managed better. He has appealed for cooperation from the passengers to make the journey smooth and safe.
