
The Chardham Yatra of the Himalayas has started with the opening of the doors of Kedarnath Dham on Friday on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. After Kedarnath, the doors of Yamunotri Dham have been opened for devotees at 10.29 am on Friday.
The doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham opened.
With the opening of the doors of the world famous Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham, the Chardham Yatra has been formally inaugurated. On Friday, on the holy festival of Akshaya Tritiya, the doors of Gangotri Dham and Yamunotri Dham were opened with ritual havan, worship, chanting of Vedic mantras and religious rituals. The doors of Gangotri were opened at 12.25 pm and the doors of Yamunotri were opened at 10.29 am. About five thousand pilgrims came to Gangotri Dham and about 6 thousand pilgrims to Yamunotri Dham for darshan. On Friday, at 6.30 am, Ganga’s carriage left for Gangotri from Bhairav Temple located in Bhairav Valley. At exactly 9:30 the Doli Yatra reached Gangotri Dham. According to tradition, the pilgrim priests opened the doors of Gangotri temple for the devotees at 12.25 pm on Abhijeet Muhurta of Amrit Bela with religious rituals and Vedic chanting. Whereas on the festival of Akshaya Tritiya itself, the procession of Mother Yamuna left for Yamunotri from her winter stay Kharsali under the leadership of Shanidev Maharaj at 7.30 in the morning. Yamuna Doli Yatra reached Yamunotri Dham at around ten o’clock. Where the doors of Yamunotri Dham were opened for the devotees at 10.29 am with Vedic chanting and worship as per the rituals. Around 15 thousand pilgrims had reached Gangotri and Kedarnath Dham on Thursday evening itself to witness the inauguration. Whereas, more than 35 thousand pilgrims are staying at various stops. Heli service has also started for Kedarnath from Friday itself.
The doors of Tungnath Dham also opened
On the other hand, the doors of Third Kedar Tunganath Dham were also opened on Friday afternoon. First of all, the doors of Kedarnath Dham were opened at seven in the morning. In Chardham, the doors of the first Yamunotri Dham were opened at 10:29 am and the doors of Gangotri Dham will be opened at 12:25 pm. For the inauguration, Kedarnath Dham has been decorated grandly with 20 quintals of flowers, Gangotri Dham with 21 quintals and Yamunotri Dham with 10 quintals of flowers. The doors of Lord Tungnath Dham, the third Kedar among the Panchkedars, were opened on Friday with Vedic chanting and rituals. Before this, the palanquin of the Lord left from Chopta and reached the temple premises. The priests offered special worship to Lord Tungnath with Vedic mantras.
After this the doors were opened for the devotees to see. Now daily puja for six months will be performed here. A large number of devotees including Mathapati Ram Prasad Maithani, manager Balveer Singh Negi, Atul Maithani are present on the occasion.
