The government has become active to ensure that the devotees do not face any problem during the Chardham Yatra starting from May 10. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed in the review meeting held on Friday that all necessary arrangements should be ensured before the commencement of the Yatra. For this, secretaries of the concerned departments will conduct on-site inspection of the travel routes. Private health care testing kits will be arranged at various places on the travel routes for elderly passengers. He asked the Chief Secretary to review the Chardham Yatra every week and the Director General of Police to conduct on-site inspection to improve traffic management and law and order. BKTC, Divisional Commissioner and DM of the concerned districts will take effective steps to improve slot management for darshan in Dhams.
Devotees should take good message from Chardham Yatra
The Chief Minister said that it should be ensured that the devotees take away a good message from the Chardham Yatra. Emphasizing on cleanliness, he said that in view of plastic and waste management, funds should be made available from the Pollution Control Board to the DMs associated with the travel routes. He also directed to make proper arrangements for water and electricity on the Yatra routes, repair the toilets, make separate toilets for women, and give instructions to the personnel associated with the Yatra to behave decently with the devotees. He said that the security personnel deployed on the yatra routes should remain on alert mode and should be given rest after every six hours. There should be proper living and sleeping arrangements for the drivers. Efforts should be made that each vehicle operating on the travel routes should have two drivers and the fitness of the vehicles should also be monitored.
The Chief Minister said that the information system should be strong so that the devotees get all the information including weather and traffic management on time. He stressed on making directories of hotels, guest houses and home stays available in different languages.
Verification of horse-mule operators
The Chief Minister directed that the horses and mules operated on the travel routes should be registered only after health examination. Also, their operators should be verified. Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj, Urban Development Minister Premchand Aggarwal, BKTC Chairman Ajendra Ajay, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, DGP Abhinav Kumar and other officials were present in the meeting.
