
The mortal remains of Gautam Kumar, resident of Kotdwar Pauri, Uttarakhand, and Virendra Singh, resident of Chamoli, who were martyred in the attack on an army vehicle in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, were brought to Dehradun Airport in Jolly Grant by a special army aircraft. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid his tribute to the martyrs by placing a wreath on their mortal remains and the service personnel present on the spot performed guard of honor and saluted the martyrs. After this, his mortal remains were sent to his home in an army vehicle.

During this, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that two brave soldiers of Uttarakhand have sacrificed their lives to protect the motherland. Which the countrymen can never forget. Our government stands with the families of the martyrs and will provide them all possible help. He said that we salute such brave sons who are sacrificing their lives to protect the country.
Gautam was posted in Rajouri sector
Let us tell you that Gautam Kumar, aged 29, resident of Shivpur in Kotdwar, became a part of the army by participating in the army recruitment rally held in Gochar in 2014. Gautam, working as a rifleman in 89 Armed Regiment, was posted in Rajouri sector of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Terrorists attacked on 21 December
On the afternoon of 21 December, terrorists had ambushed two army vehicles in Bafliaz area of Poonch. Gautam was sacrificed in this. Whereas Virendra Singh, aged 33 years, was a resident of Bamiyal, a soldier-dominated village of Narayan Bagad development block in Chamoli district. Who was recruited as a rifleman in 15 Garhwal Rifle of the Army in 2010. Presently he was also posted in Pooch.
The marriage was scheduled for 11th March
According to family information, Gautam had come home on leave only on 30th November last month and returned to duty on 16th December. Their marriage was fixed for March 11 the following year. Due to this, preparations for the marriage were also going on at home but he sacrificed his life before that. Virendra had also said that he would come home on leave on January 6. Virendra, the martyr, has a wife and two daughters.
