Uttarakhand Cabinet Decision: Clears the way for horizontal reservation for state agitators, read other decisions

admin March 14, 2023

The way to give 10 percent horizontal reservation to state agitators in government services seems to be paving the way.
In the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the report of the cabinet sub-committee formed regarding horizontal reservation to the state agitators was approved.

Bill will be sent to Raj Bhavan for approval again:
It was decided that according to the report necessary amendments will be made in the bill and it will be sent to Raj Bhavan again for approval. In view of the construction of assembly, secretariat and other government buildings in Raipur area of Dehradun, the cabinet has banned the entire area from here till Kalimati village for six months.
Apart from this, 10 points were also approved in the meeting including increasing the solar energy policy and MLA fund.
On Monday, a cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at Vidhansabha Bhawan, Bharadisain, Gairsain. The report of the sub-committee constituted under the chairmanship of Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal was presented in the meeting.
In this report, a provision has been made to give reservation to state agitators in government services as before. On the basis of this report, the cabinet decided to make necessary amendments in the existing bill and send it again to the Raj Bhavan.
Cabinet approves Solar Energy Policy
In another important decision, the cabinet has approved the Solar Energy Policy. Provision has also been made in this policy for new projects of solar energy, private cooperation and employment to local youth.
The cabinet has taken steps in the direction of removing the problems being faced regarding the registry of lands in hilly areas. In this episode, it has been decided that in hilly areas, where there are no sub-registrars in tehsils, only tehsildars will be able to register.
Decision to increase MLA fund also:
The cabinet has also decided to increase the MLA fund. The MLA fund has now been increased to five crore rupees. Earlier this limit was 3.75 crores.
Under this fund, Rs 50 lakh can now be given to Mahila Mangal Dal and Yuvak Mangal Dal for cultural programmes. Earlier this limit was 40 lakhs. Similarly, Rs 50 lakh can be given from the MLA’s fund for the beautification of cultural and religious places. Earlier this limit was 25 lakhs.

Registry will now get relief in hilly areas:
In the hilly areas of the state, now the registry will not have to wait for the posting of the sub-registrar. Tehsildars will also be able to register in the tehsils here. The cabinet has approved this proposal of the Revenue Department.
This topic was put up by the Revenue Department in the cabinet meeting on Monday. It said that due to the shortage of sub-registrars, many times the same sub-registrar is given the charge of more than one tehsil. This is affecting the functions of the registry. In view of this, the Revenue Department has sent a proposal to the Government to hand over this responsibility to the Tehsildar, which has been approved by the Government.
