There is also a need to make a comprehensive action plan for the rapid increase in the livelihood of the residents of the hilly areas. He said that people who are connecting themselves with self-employment as well as self-employment in the hilly areas of the state by doing reverse migration, should be encouraged.
While presiding over the meeting of the Rural Development and Migration Prevention Commission at the Secretariat on Friday, the Chief Minister said that small and medium industries are being promoted in the hilly areas by the government.
Along with increasing the livelihood of the local residents in the hilly areas, continuous efforts are being made to increase education and health facilities. Industry, tourism, agriculture, horticulture are being encouraged. He said that to prevent migration from rural areas, special attention needs to be given to schemes focused on villages.
Dr. SS Negi, Vice Chairman, Rural Development and Migration Prevention Commission said that the commission has so far submitted 19 reports to the government. The report of Udham Singh Nagar district will also be submitted soon. He said that now the trend is moving in the direction of reverse migration. Commission member Dinesh Rawat said that in view of promoting agriculture and horticulture, there is a need to take protective steps to protect crops from wildlife. Chief Minister Solar Self Employment Scheme will have to be further promoted in the state.
Member Suresh Suyal gave suggestions to encourage Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in villages, to connect youth and women with maximum self-employment in hilly areas. Member Ram Prakash Panuli said that the ancient temples located on the Chardham Yatra route should also be linked with the Yatra. This will give a boost to religious tourism and also increase the livelihood of the local people. Nodal officer should be appointed in every district to promote self-employment.
Ranjana Rawat said that giving more encouragement to MSMEs in Pahar and Anil Shahi emphasized on starting Seemant Darshan Yojana to promote tourism in border areas along with carrying forward development schemes considering villages as the center. Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Secretary Dr. BVRC Purushottam, Additional Secretary Neetika Khandelwal were also present on this occasion.
