Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken a strict stance on the attitude of the Forest Department towards preventing the increasing attacks of leopards in the state. After the incident of death of a 10-year-old child in the attack of a leopard in Galjwadi, Dehradun on Sunday, Chief Minister Dhami on Monday summoned the Forest Department officials to the office located in the Assembly building and strongly reprimanded them. He instructed the Chief Wildlife Warden to go to the field and take strict steps to stop the attacks of guldar. The Chief Minister has also ordered to ban foreign tours of Forest Department officials. In the last few days, there has been a spurt in attacks by wildlife, especially leopards, in various areas of the state. There is an atmosphere of fear in the areas related to this.
After the incident that took place in Galjwadi near Dehradun city on Sunday, people there are also scared. In the light of these incidents, Chief Minister Dhami on Monday summoned Principal Secretary Forest RK Sudhanshu, Head of Forest Department, Chief Conservator of Forests Anup Malik and Chief Wildlife Warden Dr. Sameer Sinha to the office located in the Assembly Building.
Instructions for daily monitoring of incidents
The Chief Minister directed the Principal Secretary Forest to daily monitor the incidents of attacks by Guldar and other wildlife. Also ordered the Chief Wildlife Warden to go to the field. He gave strict instructions to the departmental officers that there should be no loss of life under any circumstances. Whatever necessary steps should be taken for this. Also the public should be made aware. He said that in view of human-wildlife conflict, the forest department remained on 24-hour alert mode. He directed to send trained quick response teams to the affected areas. He directed to take immediate effective steps to prevent incidents of human-wildlife conflict.
