CM Dhami held a review meeting regarding security, carrying sticks and sharp objects in Kanwar Yatra will be banned

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken seriously the incidents of vandalism and disturbance on the Yatra route even before the start of the Kanwar Yatra. He directed the officials to run a comprehensive publicity campaign to prevent Kanwariyas from carrying sticks, sticks and sharp objects etc. He has also directed to strictly enforce the ban on the sale of narcotics, liquor and meat on the Yatra route. He said that complete verification should be done of the camp operators, working persons, volunteers and persons staying in hotels and dharamshalas on the Yatra route. The Chief Minister has also given instructions to ensure the deployment of ATS and special security forces in view of terrorist threats. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed the preparations for the upcoming Kanwar Mela through video conferencing from New Delhi on Tuesday. He said that effective crowd control, traffic management and security arrangements should be made to prevent any kind of undesirable incidents in this huge religious event. Deployment of X-ray system, fire fighting equipment, fire tenders and personnel should be ensured at all major sites. The Chief Minister also emphasized on taking help of volunteers in crowd management and keeping continuous monitoring and intelligence system active through CCTV cameras and drones. He said that ambulances and back-up should be arranged at Haridwar ghats, Neelkanth Mahadev temple and other major sites. Sufficient number of male and female security personnel in plain clothes should be deployed. Divers and water police equipped with disaster relief equipment should be kept on alert mode. The Chief Minister said that loud sound amplifiers, DJ and loudspeakers should be used as per rules on the Yatra routes. Information about what to do and what not to do should be given to Kanwar pilgrims through various mediums.

He said that in view of the increasing number of women Kanwariyas, special arrangements should be made at women ghats and dharamshalas for their safety. Information should be exchanged immediately by increasing interstate coordination. He also directed to keep a watch on internet media and take strict action against those spreading rumors and immediately block the related posts. Home Secretary Shailesh Bagauli, Director General of Police Deepam Seth, Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman and other departmental officials were present in the meeting.
