Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed grief over the incident of fire in the shops of Garjia Devi Temple complex located in Ramnagar under Nainital district on Monday. Expressing condolences to the people affected by the incident, he has instructed the District Magistrate Nainital to investigate the reasons for the incident. The Chief Minister said that effective arrangements should be made to ensure that such incidents do not recur at religious places. The Chief Minister said that during the Navratri festival, necessary attention should be paid to the necessary management so that the devotees do not face any difficulty in worshiping in the temples. It is being told that suddenly a burning incense from the temple fell into the shop below. Due to this the raw shop caught fire. All the shops were adjacent to each other so all of them caught fire. By the time the shopkeepers could understand anything, the fire had taken a huge form.
People could not even save their belongings
People did not even get a chance to save their belongings. The grass, dry wood and strong winds in the hut added fuel to the fire. The fire was so huge that the plume of smoke started rising higher than the temple. This created panic among the devotees who came to the temple for darshan. People ran towards safe places to save their lives. People somehow took out the cylinders kept in the shops. During the fire, people showed wisdom and removed one of the huts in the middle of the fire. This stopped the fire from spreading further. On information, District Chief Fire Officer Gaurav Kirar, Ramnagar Fire Officer Umesh Pargai, CO BS Bhandari reached the spot and took information about the incident.
