Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken cognizance of inhuman treatment of children in an illegal madrasa in Veerbhatti area of Nainital. He has given instructions to conduct physical verification of all the madrasas running in the state and to take legal action if unethical activities are found anywhere. In this sequence, Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has issued orders to all the districts.
Private madrassas are also running without permission
There are 532 madrassas running under Uttarakhand Madrassa Board and Uttarakhand Waqf Board in the state. Apart from this, a large number of private madrassas are also running without permission. These have been considered illegal. Similarly, in Nainital too, the local administration had inspected an illegally run madrassa on the basis of a complaint received against it. During this time the team found many irregularities here. Here 24 children were kept in small rooms filled with filth. Most of these children were found suffering from disease. The children studying here also accused the madrasa director and his son of physical abuse. Along with sealing the madrasa, the administration has also filed an FIR against the operator.
Instructions given to investigate madrassas
Taking cognizance of such inhuman treatment of children, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given instructions to investigate all madrassas. In this sequence, the Additional Chief Secretary has written a letter to all the District Magistrates and instructed them to inspect all the madrassas.
Besides, instructions have also been given to take strict action if any irregularities are found. The Additional Chief Secretary has asked the government to provide a detailed report regarding verification and action.
