The occasion will be the 6th World Disaster Management Conference, which is being held here from November 28 to December 1. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that a request will be made to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to inaugurate the conference.
Amitabh Bachchan brand ambassador
The megastar of the century Amitabh Bachchan has been made the brand ambassador of the conference. The conference will give impetus to the thinking and efforts being made at the global level to solve the disaster related challenges of Uttarakhand and other Himalayan regions. Chief Minister Dhami said that this conference will be held under the joint aegis of Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority, Disaster Management Initiative and Convergence Society Hyderabad and Uttarakhand State Science and Technology Council.
The heads of the Indian Space Research Organisation, Defense Research and Development Organisation, Atomic Energy Commission, Chief Scientific Advisor to the Central Government as well as representatives of leading institutions of the country and abroad, the United Nations and climate experts from India and abroad were specially invited. Has gone. The objective of the conference is to discuss and suggest solutions to the challenges of climate change and disaster resilience, focusing on the Himalayan ecosystem and communities.

Apart from this, Uttarakhand is also to be developed as a center of climate friendly solutions for disaster resistance and preparedness. It is also important from the point of view of G-20. The Chief Minister said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India successfully chaired the G-20. The final round of its annual presidency is in November. Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) is included as an important topic in G-20. DRR will also be discussed in the conference. Two thousand delegates will be involved. 172 embassies have been contacted for the conference. More than two thousand delegates will participate in the conference. There will be four main and 50 technical sessions. The conference will also have a mega expo showcasing the research of various institutions in the field of disaster management. Before the conference, many programs will be organized in educational institutions of the state, universities, central institutions as well as institutions across the country.
