Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and requested to start Janshatabdi service between Dehradun to Tanakpur to connect Garhwal and Kumaon divisions. He also urged to operate Shatabdi Express service between Delhi-Ramnagar.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, during his stay in Delhi, requested Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav to test the tunnel-based rail line project and the Rishikesh-Uttarkashi rail line project to connect Dehradun to Saharanpur via Mohand and approve their construction. Go He urged the Union Minister to start Vande Bharat train service between Haridwar and Varanasi, saying that this would greatly help tourists and pilgrims. The Chief Minister thanked the Railway Minister for the cooperation given in the past.
He requested the Railway Minister that the entire cost of the Kichha-Khatima rail line should be borne by the Government of India. He also expected to run direct train service between Ramnagar-Haridwar-Dehradun. The Chief Minister said that adequate train services should be operated from Delhi, Mathura and Lucknow to Tanakpur for the pilgrims coming from different places of the country during the remaining period of Purnagiri fair.
Chief Minister Dhami said that at present one has to go through Haridwar for rail travel from Dehradun to New Delhi. The Haridwar-Dehradun rail line is single lane. Most of the road from Dehradun to Haridwar passes through Rajaji National Park. In view of the safety of wildlife, the speed of the train is controlled here. As a result, the entire journey takes a relatively longer time. If a rail line is built from Dehradun to Saharanpur via Mohand, some part of which can be connected through a tunnel, then the movement of people from New Delhi to Dehradun will be quick. He urged the Railway Minister to test the feasibility of the rail line project to connect Dehradun to Saharanpur via Mohand and approve the plan on the same lines as Rishikesh-Karnprayag.
