Electricity prices will increase again in Uttarakhand. UPCL has sent the petition to the Uttarakhand Regulatory Commission after passing the proposal of 12 percent hike from the board. The commission will accept it after studying it and will start the further process. UPCL had to file its petition by 30 November but the process was stuck due to the calculation of 4300 crores of UP’s era. On the demand of the corporation, the Regulatory Commission had given time till 16 December and then till 26 December. After this, the Regulatory Commission will hold a public hearing. On the basis of the suggestions received here, the commission will decide the new electricity rates, which will be applicable from 1 April next year. UPCL MD Anil Kumar said that the proposal regarding electricity rates has been sent to the Regulatory Commission.
Electricity will become costlier by more than 15 percent
UPCL has proposed a 12 percent hike. UJVNL has proposed to increase its tariff from Rs 2.33 to Rs 2.83 and Pitkul has also proposed an increase. If we combine the three corporations, the total increase will be more than 15 percent. Now the regulatory commission has to take the final decision on this.
