Monday is the last day for nomination for the municipal elections. Before this, the Election Commission has made the rules easier for the nomination of candidates. Candidates will get a chance to submit their nomination even without opening an account, provided they have to provide the bank details by the last date of nomination. There is a provision for candidates to open a separate bank account for nomination. The State Election Commission opened various SBI branches, treasuries, sub-treasuries on Saturday and Sunday for the convenience of the candidates. Despite this, there was a problem in opening a bank account. The Commission’s Secretary Rahul Kumar Goyal sent a letter regarding the bank to all the District Election Officers on Sunday. It was said that in view of the delay in opening the bank account of the candidates, it was decided that the officers should submit their nomination even without bank details. They will have to provide the account details by the last time on the last date of nomination. The Commission also clarified that the candidates can open their account in any bank, not just SBI. Monday is the last day for nomination. A large number of nominations have been made in three days.
