
The 12 km long elevated road has taken shape at the end of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway project. Like a sky ride in the middle of a dense forest, this elevated road is the main attraction of the entire project. Slabs have been laid on the elevated road in a length of 12 km, while the asphalting work has also been completed on 11 km portion. It is believed that the elevated road will be opened for vehicles by July 2024. After this, the distance between Delhi and Dehradun can be covered within just two and a half hours. Officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) are working with full capacity to complete the construction of the project within time.
At present, the distance between Delhi and Dehradun is 236 km, which will be reduced to 213 km after the completion of the project. That is, the distance will be reduced by 23 km and the six-hour travel time will also be reduced by three and a half hours.
The NHAI’s Dehradun-based project director’s office is very active regarding the 12 km long elevated road from Ganeshpur area of Saharanpur to the border of Dehradun, which is the biggest attraction of the project. After its construction, vehicles will pass through the elevated road, while the lower part will be used for the free movement of wildlife. According to the project director’s office, the work of the elevated road is in its final stage. The beauty of the elevated road amidst the dense forest area is worth seeing. The progress of this part of the project has exceeded 90 percent. On which, along with asphalting, signage, CAT IR marking works have been completed. Preparations for asphalting have been started on the remaining one kilometer part.
Cameras will measure speed on the elevated road, challan will be issued online
Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) will be arranged to control the speed freaks on the elevated road. Through this, cameras will monitor the speed and if the speed is found to be more than the set standard, an online challan will be issued.
The control room will automatically receive information about the accident
Video Incident Detection System (VIDS) will be installed on the elevated road. Which will automatically send information to the control room in case of a road accident. So that relief and rescue work can be done on time.
The project is worth 11 thousand 970 crores
According to NHAI officials, the construction of Delhi-Doon Expressway is going on in a total of 11 packages on 213 km. This work is being looked after by different project offices of the authority. The work of bringing the project on the ground is to be completed by November 2024 at the latest according to different packages.
