Heat waves during the day and hot winds blowing till late evening have troubled the people of Doon a lot. The remaining problem is being solved by power cuts. People are neither getting any relief during the day nor are they able to sleep properly at night. According to the Meteorological Department, there is no hope of getting relief from the heat at the moment. The maximum temperature has reached 43 degrees Celsius. This is seven degrees Celsius more than normal. The heat is wreaking havoc in the plains of Uttarakhand. Life is badly affected by the fire raining from the sky and the heat waves are also making people miserable. The hilly areas of Garhwal are also burning and the bright sunshine is making people sweat. However, light rain is being recorded at some places in the mountainous areas of Kumaon.
According to the Director of the Meteorological Center, Bikram Singh, there is little hope of getting relief from the heat in the plains of Uttarakhand at the moment. Today, the weather in Dehradun can be dry to partly cloudy. Light to moderate rainfall is expected in Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora and Champawat. Temperatures will remain above normal in other districts.
No relief even in shade
The heat in Dehradun on Wednesday was such that there was no relief under the trees and in the shade. People kept wandering in search of coolness. The heat kept troubling those who came out of their homes. The situation remained the same after 8 am. There was no relief from this even till late evening. People drenched in sweat kept consuming ice cream and cold drinks in the hope of coolness.
Tourists with water remained crowded
Apart from Lacchiwala, Guchhupani near the city, tourists kept bathing in Camptifall in Mussoorie throughout the day. This provided relief from the heat, but as soon as they came out of the water, they became sweaty again. At the same time, people were seen strolling on the Mall Road of Mussoorie in the evening. However, due to direct sunlight during the day, only a small number of tourists were seen on the roads.
