Dhami government gearing up for Chardham Yatra, expected more crowd than last time

Chardham Yatra, which plays an important role in the economy of Uttarakhand, is expected to attract more pilgrims this year than last time. In view of this, the government has intensified the exercise to finalize the preparations related to the yatra along with focusing on making the yatra safe and smooth. In this sequence, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed the preparations for the Yatra at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
In view of the problem of landslides at Joshimath, the main stop of Badrinath Yatra, a team of BRO will be regularly stationed there for the smooth conduct of the yatra. The Chief Minister said that if there is a landslide or any other problem on the highway in Joshimath, then this team will immediately get involved in its treatment. In view of the yatra, a control room for disaster management will also be set up at Joshimath.
Chief Minister Dhami said that all the four holy places of the state, Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri are centers of immense faith of devotees. It is the responsibility of all of us that the journey of the pilgrims should be safe and smooth. He said that the concerned departments should fix the shortcomings left in the Chardham Yatra last year. Also, attention should be paid to what better facilities can be provided to the passengers. He said that full arrangement of funds would be made for the travel arrangements, but there would be no compromise on the quality of works.
Roads should be pothole-free at all costs The Chief Minister said that in the past instructions were given to PWD to make all roads pothole-free, but complaints are still being received regarding this. He asked the Principal Secretary, Lonivi to review the DM and departmental officers every week for making all the roads pothole free and improving them. This order will continue till the roads are repaired. Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj, Finance Minister Premchand Aggarwal, Transport Minister Chandan Ramdas etc were present in the meeting.
