Dhami government strict on impersonators and forced conversion, Madrasa Board will be abolished in the state

admin August 30, 2025

The Dhami government is strict on impersonators and forced conversions under the guise of Sanatan. More than four thousand people have been verified so far under Operation Kalanemi. At the same time, strict provisions were made by amending the anti-conversion law. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given strength to the reawakening campaign of Hindutva by abolishing the Madrasa Board along with Operation Kalanemi, strictness in the anti-conversion law. Operation Kalanemi is being run across the state through the police. More than 300 people have been arrested in this campaign, including 162 people from Haridwar. Operation Kalanemi is being considered a concrete step against those who tamper with the beliefs and traditions of Sanatan under the guise of religious identity. The government has passed the Uttarakhand Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Bill from the Assembly to stop forced religious conversion. Under the amended law, if a person converts someone’s religion by luring them with money, gifts, job, marriage, then it will be counted in the category of crime. If a person hides his religion with the intention of marriage, then he can be sentenced to three to 10 years and fined three lakh rupees. A maximum of 14 years of imprisonment has been provided for the crime of converting women, children, SC-ST, Divyang or mass conversion. Similarly, taking foreign money for conversion can lead to seven to 14 years of imprisonment and a fine of at least Rs 10 lakh, while in a case like converting by threatening life, the punishment can be from 20 years to life imprisonment. If a person acquires property through religious conversion, then the District Magistrate can confiscate it

Madrasa Board will be abolished in the state
The Dhami government has ended the monopoly of the Muslim community on the status of minority educational institutions. For this, the Uttarakhand Minority Educational Institutions Bill was passed in the monsoon session. Now the educational communities of all minority communities including Sikhs, Christians, Jains will be able to get the status of minority institution. This will be the first law in the country to end the monopoly of the Muslim community in minority institutions. Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority will be formed in the state, which will provide status to minority educational institutions.
