
District Magistrates in all the districts will now listen to the problems of farmers once a month and get them resolved on priority basis. Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi, during talks with representatives of farmers’ organizations on Tuesday, asked the Agriculture Secretary to direct all DMs in this regard. He also said that wherever there is a complaint of irregularity in the damage survey in the disaster affected Haridwar district, a team of departmental and revenue department officials will conduct the survey again.
Point wise discussion on farmers’ demands
Representatives of the farmers’ organization met Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi in the office of the Assembly building and handed over a five-point demand letter to him. In the meeting held after this, the Agriculture Minister discussed the demands of the farmers point by point with the farmers and officials.
Later, the Agriculture Minister said that Haridwar district has suffered the maximum damage due to the disaster. Representatives of farmers’ organizations expressed their anger, saying there were irregularities in the survey of crops and other damage. In view of this, instructions have been given for re-survey in the areas where there are complaints of irregularities.
Farmers get relief from flood problem
According to Cabinet Minister Joshi, instructions have been given to the Rural Development Commissioner regarding the demand to link farmers to MNREGA. Apart from this, instructions have also been given to construct a dam on the Solani River, so that the farmers can get relief from the problem of floods in the surrounding areas.
He also said that as per the set norms, so far a compensation amount of Rs 35 crore has been given to the disaster affected farmers. On this occasion, Agriculture Secretary Deependra Kumar Chaudhary, Director General Agriculture and Horticulture Ranveer Singh Chauhan, State President of Bharatiya Kisan Organization Sanjay Chaudhary etc. were present.
