Uttarakhand Transport Corporation is facing a big problem during the festival season. Delhi route is the most profitable route for the Transport Corporation, but from November 1, about 400 buses of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation will not be allowed to enter Delhi. Actually, to control pollution, there will be a ban on entry of BS-4 class diesel buses in Delhi from November 1. At present, about 400 buses are operating from Uttarakhand to Delhi and all of them are of Euro-4 i.e. BS-4 category. At present the Transport Corporation has only 150 contracted CNG buses (BS-6 category), which will be valid for entry in Delhi.
Only BS-6 class buses allowed to enter Delhi
The Delhi government has allowed the entry of only BS-6 category buses from November 1, while Uttarakhand Transport Corporation does not have a single BS-6 category bus of its own. There are only 150 contracted CNG buses which are of BS-6 category.
Delhi government had issued advisory for BS-6 buses a month ago, but the officials in Uttarakhand remained relaxed. There was panic among the officials after the notice action taken on Tuesday. In this regard, the Transport Corporation is preparing to appeal to the state government to resolve the matter.
About 35 thousand passengers travel to Delhi every day.
Every day 30 to 35 thousand passengers travel to Delhi in Uttarakhand buses. If there is a ban on entry of buses into Delhi, then buses from Uttarakhand will be able to go only till the Delhi border. This will not only cause trouble to the passengers, but the transport corporation may also have to suffer losses. Transport Corporation, which has a bus fleet of around 1300, has 250 buses from Garhwal division and 150 buses from Kumaon division going to Delhi every day. Most of the buses of Garhwal go to Kashmiri Gate ISBT while the buses of Kumaon go to Anand Vihar ISBT.
Buses going to other states will also be affected
If there is a ban on entry of BS-4 diesel buses in Delhi, then Uttarakhand Transport Corporation buses going to other states via Delhi may also be affected. Through Delhi, buses operate to Gurugram, Faridabad, Agra, Jaipur, Ajmer and Alwar, Khatushyamji etc.
Super Deluxe Volvo also BS-4
The Super Deluxe Volvo buses of the Transport Corporation are also of BS-4 category. In such a situation, a crisis has arisen over the entry of these buses into Delhi. At present the corporation has 53 contracted Volvo buses, of which 47 buses are running for Delhi. Of these, 27 buses are sent from Dehradun to Delhi alone and most of the buses remain full with online tickets only. In such a situation, those who have booked tickets after November 1 may face problems.
According to Uttarakhand Transport Corporation General Manager Deepak Jain, information has been received about the advisory issued by Delhi regarding pollution. Till now no official letter has been received prohibiting the entry of buses. Although there is mention of operation of BS-6 buses in the advisory, there was no talk of banning old diesel buses. The government will be informed after taking complete information about this.
