Doon’s lab embezzled Rs 84 lakh by preparing fake report of Covid in Kumbh Mela, this is how it was revealed

admin February 29, 2024

The name of a Doon lab has also been added to the large-scale fraud in the rapid and RTPCR test reports of Corona during the Kumbh Mela held in Haridwar in the year 2021. The pathology lab uploaded the fake report on the website of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and collected payment of more than Rs 84 lakh from the health department. The exploits of Doon’s lab came to light in the investigation being conducted by the Enforcement Directorate, Chandigarh in the money laundering case. On receiving the report, Doon police found the irregularities and registered a case in Patel Nagar police station.
Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh said that during the Kumbh Mela Haridwar-2021, Max Corporate Service in Kotwali Haridwar, Nalwa Laboratories Pvt. Ltd., Hisar and Dr. Lal Chandani Lab, Delhi have been booked for fraud in Covid-19 rapid antigen and RTPCR test reports. A case was registered against him. The allegation was that crores of rupees were embezzled by preparing a large number of fake reports. Along with the police investigation, the Enforcement Directorate, Chandigarh also investigated the case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Investigation found that rapid antigen test and RT-PCR test were also conducted in the Kumbh Mela by the DNA lab located on Kargi Road in Patel Nagar police station area. In which a total of Rs 84 lakh 57 thousand 616 was paid to the lab by the Uttarakhand Health Department. When the data uploaded by the DNA Lab on the ICMR website was scrutinized, it was found that most of the entries were fake and reports had been issued for many patients by registering the same mobile number on different days. Apart from this, since the addresses of the patients were different and the phone numbers were the same, the Enforcement Directorate considered it a fraud and sent a report to Senior Superintendent of Police, Dehradun Ajay Singh.
On the instructions of the SSP, Patelnagar police station, while conducting preliminary investigation, prima facie found falsification in the report of DNA lab. On the basis of which a case has been registered against the operator of DNA Lab Kargi Road Patel Nagar, Divya Prakash, resident of Ashirwad Enclave Dehrakhas.
