Cold has increased in Uttarakhand before Christmas and New Year. On Monday, cold wave in plain areas increased the chill due to snowfall and rain in hill districts. Due to drizzle in plain areas, a huge drop in temperature was recorded. On Monday, the sky remained cloudy throughout the day. There was heavy snowfall in the high altitude areas of Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi and Tehri. While the second snowfall of the season also occurred in Chakrata and Mussoorie of Dehradun district. Due to this, cold increased due to cold wave from mountains to plains. Minimum temperature in Badrinath was -8 and maximum -3 degrees. Maximum -11 and minimum -6 degrees were recorded in Niti Valley, -19 in Gangotri and -11 degrees in Kedarnath.
Chances of rain and snowfall today too
There is a possibility of rain and snowfall in the hill districts of the state even today. According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Centre, there is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Almora, Champawat and Nainital including the mountainous areas of Dehradun.
