This time the winter in Uttarakhand has been dry so far. Although, November is generally considered the driest month of the year, but there was no rain in October as well and now in December too, there is no hope of rain or snowfall for the next one week.
In such a situation, due to the weather remaining dry for two months, the temperature in most areas has also remained above normal. Due to which the cold is also not setting in on time. In the winter season which started from October 1, 91 percent less rainfall than normal has been recorded so far. This time the monsoon knocked in Uttarakhand on 27 June.
Clouds rained 20 percent more than normal in July
After the arrival of monsoon, clouds rained 20 percent more than normal in July. After this, in August there was only 09 percent more rainfall than normal. At the same time, in September, heavy rains continued in most areas of the state. There was 55 percent more rainfall than normal in the entire month. In the entire season, the highest rainfall was recorded in Bageshwar district of the state and the lowest in Pauri. Along with this, 1,273 mm rainfall was recorded in comparison to the normal rainfall of 1,163 mm in the monsoon season so far. Which was about 10 percent more than the normal. Monsoon departed from Uttarakhand on October 2.
Bright sunshine from mountains to plains
After the departure of monsoon, the weather remained dry in most of the areas of the state and bright sunshine shone from mountains to plains. However, in between, clouds camped in the mountainous areas for a few days and light to moderate rainfall was also recorded at some places. But, it proved to be nominal. After this, the state remained in a drought situation in November as well. Light showers occurred in Bageshwar and Pithoragarh.
