During the rainy season in the state, accident prone areas will increase the concern of the government. There are 1296 such accident prone areas in the state, which have not been treated yet. Similarly, there are 308 landslide prone areas which need to be monitored. At the same time, 2977 km long road is left in which crash barriers are to be installed. In view of this, the government has deployed 787 machines including 411 JCB machines on these routes. Along with this, 1933 personnel have also been deployed.
During the rainy season in the state, the roads in the hilly districts get blocked at many places. Due to the delay in opening these routes, the local residents have to face a lot of trouble. In view of this, the Public Works Department has started preparations to deal with it. Machines and personnel are being deployed on accident prone routes. They are being deployed section-wise.
Along with this, walkie-talkies are also being made available to the employees so that quick information can be exchanged. The department has also made arrangements for alternate valley bridges and foot bridges. Among the JCB machines that have been deployed, machines with GPS system have also been included.
Officers have been nominated to monitor all the reservoirs and barrages. Along with this, Standard Operating Procedure has also been issued, in which details of necessary steps to be taken along with giving immediate information in case of rise in water level have been included.
