In view of the upcoming Kanwar Yatra in the state, the Transport Department has started its preparations. The Uttarakhand Transport Department has written letters to Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh to ban the operation of illegal vehicles made without permits and jugaad during the yatra. In the letter, the transport commissioners of all these states have been requested to ban vehicles made without permits and against the rules within their state limits.
Along with this, an online meeting has also been called with the commissioners of all these states on June 30, in which safe travel will be discussed in view of the odd geographical conditions of Uttarakhand. Chardham Yatra is going to start from July 4 in the state. Crores of devotees come every year in the yatra. Last year, before the Shivratri of Savan, 3.88 crore kanwariyas had reached Haridwar from different states of the country to take kanwar. This year the number of kanwariyas is expected to increase in the Kanwar fair.
During the Kanwar Yatra, it has also been seen that a large number of Kanwariyas travel in Dak Kanwar without permit vehicles. Kanwariyas travel in open vehicles like tractor-trolleys, trucks etc. by installing big loudspeakers. Two-wheelers are operated with loud noise by removing silencers against the rules. Some mischievous elements also carry weapons, hockey sticks and sticks. Even some people operate vehicles after consuming intoxicants, due to which there is a possibility of accident.
The intention of the government is that if such vehicles and chaotic elements are stopped at the border of their state itself, then the yatra can be conducted safely. In such a situation, the Transport Department has sought cooperation from all these states. Secretary Transport Arvind Singh Hayanki has sent a letter to all the states in this regard. Joint Transport Commissioner SK Singh said that cooperation is being sought from all the states for the successful conduct of the Kanwar Yatra.
Nodal officers made for travel:
The Transport Department has constituted a four-member team for the Kanwar Yatra. In this, Dehradun’s RTO Enforcement Shailesh Tiwari has been made the nodal officer. ARTO Rishikesh Mohit Kothari, ARTO Haridwar Rashmi Pant and ARTO Enforcement Roorkee Kulwant Singh have been made Assistant Nodal Officers.
