The government will soon bring a policy to attract private investors in the housing sector in Uttarakhand. Housing Minister Premchand Aggarwal brainstormed with the officials of the Finance and Housing Department in this regard on Tuesday.
Aggarwal said that for private investors to come forward in the hospitality sector including real estate, hotels, it is necessary to provide facilities to them. Provision for this will be made in the proposed policy. This initiative will create employment opportunities. Along with this, it will also help in preventing migration.
PC Dumka, Joint Chief Administrator, Uttarakhand Housing and Urban Development Authority, gave a presentation regarding the promotion of private investment under the Housing Department in a meeting held at Cabinet Minister Aggarwal’s office in the Vidhansabha Bhavan. In this, ease of doing business, amendment in policies, new policies and incentives were discussed in view of challenges coming in private investment and their redressal.
Incentive policies to be studied:
The Housing Minister also stressed on making investment friendly policy in the housing sector and said that the incentive policies of other states should be studied for how investors can be encouraged. He said that better system should be developed for private sector investors regarding land purchase, land use change, map approval, services from various departments etc. In this, special attention should be paid to points like simplification of investors’ problems, revenue generation, employment to youth and prevention of migration.
Townships should be developed on the lines of Gujarat and Maharashtra:
Referring to the development of new townships in the changed circumstances, Agarwal said that small townships can be developed in Uttarakhand on the lines of Gujarat and Maharashtra. Private sector investors can be attracted in these. This step will prove to be important from the point of view of tax collection while developing infrastructure facilities. He instructed the officers to make this point also a part of the proposed policy.
Central team will visit Chakrata and Doiwala:
To a question, Minister Agarwal said that new townships in Chakrata and Doiwala will be developed in the state with the help of the Centre. In this connection, the central team will soon visit both these areas. He also gave instructions for speedy disposal of cases pending at the authority level related to land use change.
Secretary Finance Dilip Jawalkar, Secretary Housing Surendra Narayan Pandey, Managing Director Metro Corporation Jitendra Tyagi, MDDA Secretary Mohan Singh Burnia and HRDA Secretary Uttam Singh Chauhan were present in the meeting.
