In the meeting of the Political Affairs Committee of the State Congress, the issue of Purola in Uttarkashi district came up for discussion. In view of the Lok Sabha elections, Congress accused the ruling BJP of inciting religious sentiments in the name of Land Jihad after Love Jihad.
The committee said that the Congress will not allow the communal atmosphere in the state to deteriorate under any circumstances. State Congress Vice President Organization Mathuradatt Joshi said that the meeting of the Political Affairs Committee was held on June 11 through Zoom. Senior party leaders including party’s state in-charge Devendra Yadav, state president Karan Mahara, former chief minister Harish Rawat, former state president Ganesh Godial, national secretary Qazi Nizamuddin participated in it.
Discussion on the strategy of assembly by-elections:
In the meeting, while discussing the incident at Purola in Uttarkashi district, the Congress leaders said in one voice that the role of BJP and its affiliated organizations is not appropriate in the interest of the state. The communal harmony of Devbhoomi should not be disturbed. In the meeting, the strategy for the assembly by-elections to be held in Bageshwar was discussed. Among the issues to be raised by the party in the by-elections, it was decided to place the development works of the previous Congress government among the public.
Condemnation of the statement made about Nathuram Godse:
During this, the statement given by former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and Union Minister of State for Defense Ajay Bhatt regarding Nathuram Godse was condemned. It was also decided that a reply would be given against the BJP by taking to the streets in the entire state. Many leaders including former cabinet minister Navprabhat, MLA Sumit Hridayesh, Vaibhav Walia, Ishita Seedha, State Mahila Congress President Jyoti Rautela and Youth Congress President Sumittar Bhullar, Hema Purohit and Amarjit Singh presented their views in the meeting.
BJP has nothing to say in elections:
Former Leader of Opposition Pritam Singh also attacked the BJP government in the Purola case. He said that the kind of situations that are being created, it is becoming clear that the government and the BJP have nothing to say in the Lok Sabha elections.
The discussion of changing the state in-charge gained momentum:
The discussion of changing the state in-charge once again gained momentum within the Congress. In-charge Devendra Yadav is on the target of dissidents for the defeat in the assembly elections in the year 2022 and after that the changes within the party in the state. Questions have been raised from time to time for not changing the state in-charge after the defeat.
MLA Madan Singh Bisht claimed that the state in-charge could be changed within the next five days. He said that the in-charge should be changed. Former Leader of Opposition Pritam Singh has also been objecting to the attitude of in-charge Devendra Yadav. Pritam Singh said that the in-charge did not perform well the responsibility of coordination within the party in the state.
